Background information
The Funky Junky Monkeys formed in 1998 as a three piece band performing gigs in custom made monkey costumes. ‘The idea was to remain anonymous and for a while it worked’ said front man Ray Toland , ‘Then someone published our names on the internet so we ditched the suits, it was too damned hot in those things anyhow!'.

On the back of their initial success, the band recruited percussionist Rob who also shared vocal duties with Ray. Jet joined in 2006 to add a little more feedback and Ronnie 'The Reed' Rocket joined in 2007 to blow her sax and sing her songs. Since those formative times, FJM have been playing gigs, festivals and parties. For the last two years they have played to a two thousand strong crowd, headlining in Priory Park as part of the Malvern Fringe' May Day celebrations and have played at Malverns West Fest.

With their delicious blend of funk, punk and glam rock, the Funky Junky Monkeys delight their audiences with a boot stomping mixture of their own material with scintillating covers. A great band and a great show.
